Scope Group is seeking a Backend Engineer to join our international and diverse team in Berlin or Frankfurt. Our team plays a vital role in supporting Scope’s growth and digital transformation by delivering innovative software solutions to both internal and external clients.

  • Design, code, test, and operate applications
  • Foster industry best practices into the teams (e.g. continuous delivery, test automation, software architecture) and influence technical decisions
  • Be the right-hand of the team lead on technical subjects

We are looking for individuals who are curious, passionate about technology, and eager to contribute to a dynamic team. The ideal candidate will have a solid foundation in software engineering with experience in technologies such as Java, Spring, Docker, and PostgreSQL, and an interest in event-driven architecture and microservices.

Your professional and personal profile

  • Solid experience with Java 19+, Spring (Boot/Data-JPA/Actuator), Docker, MS SQL Server, and PostgreSQL.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, a STEM/MINT-related field, or equivalent professional experience.
  • You take initiative in identifying problems and designing solutions while valuing teamwork and engaging in constructive discussions.
  • You balance quality with practicality, making trade-offs where necessary and thriving in complex environments.
  • Fluent in English (written and oral); knowledge of German or any other European language is an advantage.
