Our Data Privacy team in Düsseldorf is looking for you!

  • You will report to the Head of Data Protection, sitting in Germany
  • You will act as a DPO in Germany for certain German entities in the Energy Assets domain – these are entities which are producing or storing power or power-related assets
  • Your duties include all the statutory duties such as providing support to the business on data protection queries, answering subject access requests, advising on Germany-specific data protection issues, reviewing data protection agreements, supporting in DPIAs and so on
  • You will need to travel on a regular basis to the locations of the Assets to create and maintain relationships with local stakeholders as well as carry out audits or support in audits as necessary
  • You will need to maintain documentation in relation to the entity compliance for reporting purposes
  • You will be working together with the Privacy Team to carry out your duties

Essential

  • Fluent in English and German
  • Prior data protection related work, inhouse or in a law firm is essential, such that the individual is able to independently and competently advise stakeholders on data protection issues in a pragmatic manner, and carry out other daily data protection tasks on their own. At least 5 years of experience in data protection is required
  • Data Protection Certifications such as CIPP/E, CIPM, CIPT or their equivalents from other certification bodies are mandatory
  • Knowledge of data protection laws including but not limited to the GDPR/BDSG, as well as an understanding on how to assess technical and organisational measures
  • Understanding of ISMS Audit requirements under ISO standards as well as BSI Basic Protection Requirements in relation to data protection
  • Ability to liaise with multiple stakeholders and present complex technical topics to them
  • Willing to travel on a regular basis (up to 50%) to various locations in Germany

Desirable

  • A legal qualification (admission into any jurisdiction or a law degree) is considered desirable. Candidates without legal qualifications but with extensive data protection experience and certifications will be considered
  • A technical or engineering background together with a legal qualification is highly desirable
  • Prior inhouse experience is an advantage
  • Prior experience as a DPO is an advantage
