Summary / Role Purpose

Join the Ansys Student Internship Program as a working student to apply your education to solve real world engineering problems, advance career skills and experience work at Ansys. The student (m/f/d) will be part of the Ansys Customer Excellence team. The Student will use the LS-DYNA Multiphysics solver to develop new techniques for advanced material modeling for crash and impact simulations. The Student will get an opportunity to interact with Ansys global leaders and key Ansys customers. The Industrial placement will run for 6 months during the 2024/25 academic year.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Evaluate and analyse experimental data captured with high-speed cameras
  • Create new simulation methodologies for the simulation of materials subjected to high strain rates
  • Investigate thermal effects on material behavior and how to consider them in industrial crash simulations
  • Perform literature search to locate relevant publications using Ansys or competitive products, as well as experimental data
  • Document and present the progress within the Ansys Customer Excellence Team

Minimum Education/Certification Requirements and Experience

  • Studying towards a Master’s degree in Engineering, or related STEM subject, in their penultimate year of study with a minimum predicted 2:1 grade
  • Ready to work at the advertised location without requiring relocation assistance by Ansys
  • Motivated to learn; strong problem solving, communication and time management skills
  • Demonstrated skills in writing, understanding, and presenting in fluent English
  • Experience with Ansys tools in the field of Computational Structural Mechanics would be preferable
  • Authorized to work in Germany

Preferred Qualifications and Skills

  • Knowledge of computer languages – Python, Fortran, C, MATLAB
  • Knowledge in material modeling
  • Academic simulation experience in at least one of the Ansys Products, or other commercial simulation software
  • Knowledge of Linux OS and general understanding of IT hardware and systems
