For our department Global IP Operations we are looking for a
Head of Global IP Operations (m/f/d)
as soon as possible. In the role as Head of Global IP Operations you are directly reporting to the Head of Corporate IP, your focus is to ensure efficiency and excellence in our IP Operations capability through maintaining and developing the team of patent attorneys, setting standards and policies to ensure excellence for all patent, design right and trademark work and ensuring quality and requirements for work done by external patent law firms.

- On a need and capacity basis, collaborate with the IP Portfolio Managers, to drive the operational execution of G+D’s IP strategies.
- Develop the capability over time to meet the demands of the businesses, e.g. recruit, develop, and run performance reviews with all patent attorneys.
- Ensure information sharing and integration among the Patent Attorneys, across IP Portfolio Teams.
- Set standards and policies to ensure excellence and best practices for all patent, design rights and trademark workflows, e.g., how we conduct Freedom to Operate Investigations, assessment of inventor remuneration etc.
- Together with the Head of Global IP Infrastructure and when applicable, ensure harmonization of workflows to enable efficiency in all of G+D patent work
- Manage the continuous evaluation and selection of external patent law firms globally
- Represent G+D in front of Patent offices and courts of arbitration, especially for topics like inventor remuneration
- Liaise with IP portfolio managers to perform long-term resource planning and match demand with resources e.g., by securing additional capacity from external service providers
- Lead the continuous improvement of processes, approaches, frameworks, and tools for patent attorney work
- Experienced and highly skilled European and/or German Patent Attorney
- Strong leadership abilities with a minimum of ideally more than five years of people management experience
- Business acumen and business understanding
- Up-to-date knowledge of IP strategies, trends, developments, and practices
- Strong communications skills
- Personal initiative and analysis capability
- Fluent in German, proficiency in English is a plus
