About us

Our globally operating unit “Operational Technology” acts as a trusted service provider for our Business Units in planning, building, and operating OT applications and systems. It orchestrates and manages cross-Business Unit OT4.0 activities, driving SCHOTT towards “Plug & Produce.” Additionally, it ensures the exchange of best practices and Industry 4.0 knowledge within the company and promotes OT governance through defined processes.

We are seeking a globally minded leader for this unit, reporting directly to the Management Board. The position will be based in our headquarters in Mainz.

Your Contribution

  • Oversee and strategically develop the OT4.0 Hub, integrating digitalization activities across SCHOTT’s global manufacturing sites. Ensure a standardized and aligned approach to digitalization that fits SCHOTT’s overall strategy and the needs of each BU.
  • Act as a partner and driver for Smart Manufacturing, helping BUs increase value and efficiency through digital initiatives.
  • Support our BUs in creating their strategic OT4.0 roadmaps and implement required corporate initiatives, including and governance activities.
  • Facilitate best practice sharing and knowledge exchange on OT4.0/Smart Manufacturing and represent SCHOTT at external events (e.g., trade shows, committees).
  • Stay current on digital trends and assess their relevance for SCHOTT. Evaluate and implement new technologies to enhance Smart Manufacturing and OT capabilities.
  • Manage the OT4.0 team (on site and virtually), adapting its structure and skills as needed. Lead, motivate, and develop team members, and drive initiatives to improve efficiency and value contribution.

Your Profile

  • University degree (Dipl.-Ing, Master) with a focus on industry-related fields and specialization in digitalization, complemented by an MBA, PhD, or equivalent qualification.
  • Minimum 5 years of leadership experience in cross-functional and international environments, covering production, engineering, and other manufacturing-related service areas.
  • Expertise in manufacturing planning and control, including processes and tools such as MES, CAQ, LIMS, etc.
  • Knowledge of Industry 4.0 principles.
  • Experience in Operational Excellence / Lean methodologies and multi-project management (both traditional and agile).
  • Strong communication, facilitation, and presentation skills.
