Our Power Portfolio Strategy team in Düsseldorf is looking for you!
- Reporting to Director of Power Portfolio Strategy and Optimization
- Steering the profitability of the wholesale Uniper Power business across Nordics, UK and CEE, by understanding and influencing commercial risk exposures
- Developing and implementing overarching hedging strategies for the Group’s power portfolio providing an optimum balance of commodity risk and reward
- Understanding and considering implications on credit and liquidity risk within given frameworks
- Overseeing and challenging the individual portfolio’s hedging strategies considering Group risk boundaries and financial objectives
- Validating position, PnL and risk reports and accuracy of underlying mathematical models
- Managing stakeholder relationships, within CCO Power, e.g. Market Access, as well as within Uniper; in particular towards CRO-Teams, Controlling and Group Finance, as well as towards Asset and Commercial Teams, e.g., Energy Assets, Sales, Origination, ensuring alignment of the overall hedging approach and necessary inputs
- Building trust across the wider Uniper business by creating transparency of commercial risks and positions across the end-to-end power business
- Leading a team of experts and manage all aspects of team performance to ensure an effective, lean, efficient, commercially focused team, whilst delivering excellent financial results
- Educated to a degree level or equivalent in a relevant subject: e.g. engineering, economics, mathematics; additional commercial management qualification advantageous
- Minimum of five years’ experience of trading and optimization, with P&L responsibility
- Team leadership experience (line management preferred; project management accepted) and successful track record in a commercial environment
- Excellent commercial awareness and detailed knowledge of physical and financial energy markets
- Strong understanding of and affinity to financial hedging instruments, quantitative models and structures
- Awareness and good understanding of IT applications for optimization & trading
- Intercultural effectiveness – steering and influencing at all levels of the organization
- Strong Stakeholder management skills – demonstrated ability to link different teams to deliver improvements in overall performance
- Good communicational skills with ability to target communication to different needs of an audience
- Experience of operating in an international environment
- Ability to drive change and deliver exceptional results
- Fluent in English is essential; other EU language would be appreciated
