Summary

As Labor Relations Manager, you are responsible for the strategic and operational management of all labor law matters within the region EMEA. You act as a central interface between HR, management, and the works councils, ensuring that all labor law processes are designed in a legally compliant, transparent, and cooperative manner.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Advising managers and HR colleagues on labor law issues
  • Collaborating with the works council on co-determination matters, especially regarding projects, restructuring, and company agreements
  • Developing and implementing strategies to promote positive labor relations
  • Supporting conflict resolution processes
  • Ensuring compliance with labor law regulations and internal policies
  • Implementing global HR projects in accordance with the German Works Constitution Act (BetrVG)
  • Negotiating and coordinating with works councils as part of international and local HR initiatives
  • Represent the company in labor law disputes, including coordination with legal counsel and external stakeholders.
  • Drafting and reviewing labor law documents (e.g., employment contracts, warnings, terminations)
  • Conducting training sessions on labor law topics for managers and HR staff
  • Support labor law topics and employee relations matters in other European countries in coordination with local HR and legal teams.

  • Completed studies in law, business law, human resources management or a comparable field
  • Several years of professional experience in labor law / employee relations
  • In-depth knowledge of German labor law and the Works Constitution Act
  • Strong communication and negotiation skills
  • Structured and solution-oriented working style
  • Business fluent German and English skills (spoken and written)

  • Ca. 50% travel, including internationally
  • Regular presence at the Novanta sites in Berlin, Ludwigsstadt and Wackersdorf
