Description
The Holtzbrinck Publishing Group is one of the world’s leading media companies. With approximately 14,000 employees and 400 companies, we are represented in over 100 countries. Our brand portfolio includes Springer Nature, Digital Science, Macmillan Learning, DIE ZEIT, Rowohlt, S. Fischer, St. Martin’s Press and Tor/Forge. We are committed to progress in science and education, and the culture of reading. Every day, we reach millions of people, open up diverse perspectives and provide access to high-quality information and the latest scientific findings. With a focus on quality and reach, we constantly push boundaries and strive to be at the forefront of industry developments.
We are looking for a motivated intern (m/f/d) for three to six months for the Strategy & Operations department at Holtzbrinck Publishing Group in Munich / Stuttgart.
At Holtzbrinck Publishing Group, you will work on the most important, group-wide future oriented projects (such as the development of growth strategies or the scaling of new digital business models). What does this mean for you? You develop market research and competitive analyses through internet research and special, subject-specific databases. The projects deal with strategic investment decisions, new innovative trends and new digital business among other things.
You will present your results in Excel or PowerPoint in close cooperation with the management teams of our business units. Thus, you will help us identify new market trends and advise on how to adapt to them proactively.
In your work, you will interact closely with the local management teams – located in Germany, England and the US. Here you will also have the opportunity to visit one or more subsidiaries and get to know the colleagues on site. You should therefore have a good command of German and English.
Right from the start, you will have a lot of responsibility: You will prepare decision papers for the Executive and Supervisory board of the Holtzbrinck Publishing Group.
Since our Strategy & Operations department was newly established last year, you will actively help shape the new structure.
- You are studying business administration, economics or media sciences and are at an advanced stage of your bachelor’s or master’s degree.
- Ideally, you have already gained some practical experience in the media industry, in consulting or in the strategy unit of a company.
- You think entrepreneurially, have strong analytical skills and are creative in finding solutions.
- You have a keen interest in new business models and growth strategies.
- You are capable of working both in a team and independently.
- You are fluent in German and English and have very good MS Office skills (Excel, PowerPoint, Word).
We can promise you one thing – you will take on responsibility from the very beginning: you will participate in workshops and meetings and will work closely with the management team. We work in small teams, which means that we all have a large variety of tasks, and you will have the chance to familiarize yourself with new, exciting areas of responsibility. You will also gain unique insights into the media world. In our spacious working environment you will be able to concentrate perfectly in our two-person offices. Should you have any questions, your colleagues’ door is always open. In addition, you can decide how you would like to organize your day. Whether from home or in the office, you can schedule your breaks according to your own rhythm – all that matters is that you meet your deadlines and appointments. Since “only” 90 colleagues work in our office in Stuttgart, the decision-making paths are very short. At Holtzbrinck, we are particularly proud of our appreciative corporate culture. You can quickly get to know all your colleagues during a table football tournament or over a piece of cake in our garden. Further benefits such as a subsidized canteen, an employer-funded sports program and 2.5 days of holiday per month round off our offer. After your internship, you have the opportunity to be selected for our internship program “Insight Media”.
