The Business Unit Hydro Power Plants Germany operates and maintains the largest German storage portfolio and is active in all short-term power markets. The fleet of pump storage plants is an integral part of the energy transition, offering both flexibility and reliability to the system.

About the traineeship.   

This traineeship offers you a unique opportunity to kickstart your career in sustainable business. Each of the trainee positions is distinct, tied to a department within a specific business area and working location. This means that each position has its own tailored responsibilities, challenges and matching profile.

Your role as a Trainee – Strategy and Business Development

Your daily activities:

  • Assessment and monitoring of the (regulatory) environment in the energy industry, mainly hydropower
  • Making Presentations / Story Lines
  • Stakeholder management
  • Observe, analyse and develop a strategy and recommendations for the hydro business development environment
  • Supporting managers and colleagues in their daily work

As a Trainee – Strategy and Business Developement you recognize yourself in the following:

  • Master of Science in Engineering, Business or Economics
  • You are a team player with strong networking, communication and social skills
  • You have a broad interest in strategy, regulatory work and business development in the energy market
  • You are a flexible person who can adapt to unseen circumstances to find creative solutions
  • You are able to work independently and enjoy taking responsibility for various tasks
  • You have a driving licence
  • You are fluent in German and English, both written and spoken

To be considered for our traineeship, you should:   

  • Be a recent graduate with an academic degree or expected graduation before March 2025.  
  • Have maximum one year of work experience.  
  • Be fluent in English and German. Skills in other languages can be a merit.   
  • Be willing to relocate for possible assignments throughout the organization.   
  • Identify with our principles: active, open, positive and safety.   

Location:   

You will be working in the department Commercial Steering and located in Berlin or Hohenwarte, Germany.

Selection will start after the application period with online tests followed by interviews in October/November.
