We are in search of a motivated, inquisitive, and results-oriented individual to contribute to our machine learning activities within our newly formed AgTech department. ZEISS started a large strategic initiative to leverage our capabilities to bring labor automation solutions to high-end greenhouses, with an initial focus on robotics. Therefore, we established a dedicated team to drive this effort with a start-up like mindset within ZEISS.

Optimize state-of-the-art ML algorithms to create a time-efficient and robust instance segmentation model for crop detection

Engage with 3D imaging team for data acquisition & the development of a 3D camera vision system

Fuse results from instance segmentation model and depth sensing to promote scene understanding and facilitate robotic interaction using 3D reconstructed plant models

Support overall R&D activities, discuss & challenge new ideas

You are enrolled in a Master’s program in Machine Learning, Image Processing, Physics, Mathematics or comparable subject and have excellent results

Knowledge in the field of camera vision systems and/or robotics is a plus

Excellent organization, problem-solving, communication (English and/or German) and innovation skills

Passion for innovation and enthusiasm for new technologies as well as motivation to work in agile, interdisciplinary team
