Europe Space Centre GmbH is the European subsidiary of Shetland Space Centre Ltd, operating SaxaVord Spaceport on Unst, in Shetland. SaxaVord Spaceport is Europe’s gateway to space and will be hosting the first vertical launches from Europe in 2024.

To further support the European space industry, we are building a global ground station network to offer ground station services and ground station hosting services.

As we gear up to our launch cadence and are growing our global ground station network, we are looking for a launch account manager to increase our presence in our German office based in Taufkirchen (Germany). You will join a highly motivated and driven team, aiming to provide services and facilities to the European space ecosystem, providing resilient, cost efficient and safe access to space as well as ground station facilities and services. You will become an expert and focal point of the European launch landscape, enabling European sovereign access to space by building strong relationships with launch operators with a view to grow long-term a launch manifest. As part of your role, you will be responsible for the long-term success of SaxaVord launch activities, be close to the launch industry and be project lead for launch missions. In this role, you will take ownership to plan and prepare for launch campaigns and be responsible for the administrative preparations. To ensure the success of the launch campaign, you will coordinate with the launch operator, the satellite operators and the different SaxaVord teams and act as single point of contact for all parties involved.

The aim will also be to constantly seek to develop our launch services and launch activities. As part of this role, you will be benchmarking our services and facilities for SaxaVord to become and stay Europe’s gateway to space for satellite operators. You will ensure that our services and facilities respond to the evolving requirements of launch customers, but also to the regulatory environment.

Market screening: benchmark services and facilities and launch service providers

Strategic development of orbital and sub-orbital launch activities

Continuously develop the services and facilities offering for launch activities

Long-term mission/launch planning and coordination

Single point of contact for launch partners

Coordinate between launch and satellite operators and back office (contracts and payment management)

Coordinate between launch partners, payload customers and SaxaVord operations teams

Administrative and logistical launch mission planning & support (launch operators)

Export/import support and logistical support and services

Masters degree

7-10 years experience, preferably in space, aerospace or defence industry

Experience in project orientated working environment

Excellent communication and negotiation skills

Natural comfort in interacting with clients, partners and counterparts

Comfortable in working within regulated environment and dealing with institutions or regulatory bodies

Prepared for regular travelling

Fast learning and good understanding of both technical and administrative topics and developments

Stress resilience and ability to prioritise and keep timelines without losing attention to details

Confidential and trustworthy: able to value and handle confidential information

Team-worker but capable to work independently

Great sense of humour

Eloquent and focused ability to speak and write

Fluent English. Additional languages preferable
