To strengthen our Technology Department (Institute of Materials Science), we are currently looking for a scientist with mechanistic modelling capabilities.
In this position, you will propose, develop and execute scientific activities with the ultimate goal to provide a science base for Nestlé growth opportunities, in existing and new product areas. Your initial focus in projects will be to identify and mathematically represent relationships between ingredients, transformation pathways, organoleptic properties and consumer preference to accelerate innovation. You will drive different activities related to modelling and investigate opportunities in bridging product development, manufacturing and consumer perception.
A day in the life of…
o Deliver material science, mathematical and computational modelling expertise to Nestlé R&D projects (esp. top priority projects)
o Propose and drive innovative ideas/projects/methods, identify opportunities to leverage them in different product categories
o Review and share latest developments in emerging fields of modelling, initiate external collaborations and show motivation to continuously develop own expertise further
o Support R&D strategy development at team & department level and guide other team members in specific areas of expertise
o Understand and answer needs within multifunctional teams
o Communicate effectively with key business stakeholders
What will make you successful
o PhD in the field of Physics, Chemical Engineering, Applied Mathematics, or Materials Science with a focus on Mathematical and Computational Modelling
o Working experience in modelling for product design (food or related consumer products)
o Application of problem solving skills related to modelling expertise
o Experience in managing / driving complex projects and building & managing relationships with key internal & external stakeholders at senior level
o Working in or managing cross-functional teams and activities
o Experience or interest in data sciences and Machine Learning/Artificial Intelligence would be an asset
o Excellent written and oral communication skills in English
