Description
The Fraunhofer Society currently operates 76 institutes and research units throughout Germany and is a leading applied research organization. Around 32 000 employees work with an annual research budget of 3.4 billion euros.
The Fraunhofer Institute for Silicon Technology ISIT offers a future-oriented research and production environment in Itzehoe with a technology-oriented equipment pool, two clean rooms and approx. 700m² of laboratory space for a total of approx. 190 employees and several site partners. As a bridge builder between research and pre-development on the one hand and commercial application on the other, Fraunhofer ISIT is an exciting employer with innovative prospects for the future.
The focus of the »MEMS Applications« business unit is on the design, development and manufacture of MEMS components and systems. Our »Optical Systems« group deals with the design and production of MEMS mirrors, Si based waveguide, glass-based packaging solutions etc. for optical microsystems, i.e. micromirrors including control and readout electronics for various types of laser projection displays, metrological and sensor systems (e.g. LIDAR), biomedical inspection systems and quantum technology etc.
- Develop optical components and systems including MEMS micromirrors or waveguides etc. for all possible applications
- Conceive component designs and the corresponding manufacturing processes and accompany the processing of the components in the clean room. You will characterize the manufactured systems and establish the necessary measuring equipment.
- Manage development projects, thereby take responsible for adhering to the schedule, budget and for continuously monitoring the progress of the project.
- Document and communicate the results to group leaders and customers
- If you are interested, there is the possibility to do a Ph.D.
- Master’s or doctorate degree in electrical engineering, materials science, physics, mechanical engineering or comparable disciplines
- Knowledge in one or more of the following areas:
- Simulation and design of MEMS devices
- Manufacturing processes in microtechnology
- Project management
- Customer and project acquisition
- Optical microsystems
- Good language skills in German and English
- A high degree of initiative and commitment, ability to quickly familiarize with new tasks and to take responsibility in a team
- You are enthusiastic about technical and scientific topics with a strong application focus
- Flexible working hours and support in achieving a work-life balance
