The Risk Division is a team of specialists charged with managing the firm’s credit, market, liquidity, operational and capital risk. Whether assessing the creditworthiness of the firm’s counterparties, monitoring market risks associated with trading activities, or offering analytical and regulatory compliance support, our work contributes directly to the firm’s success. The Operational Risk Department at Goldman Sachs is an independent risk management function responsible for developing and implementing a standardized framework to identify, measure, and monitor operational risk across the firm.

This Vice President, Operational Resilience role is for a subject matter expert dedicated to actively employ and strengthen the components of the firm’s operational resilience management framework ensuring alignment to local regulatory requirements. This role will have responsibility to continuously identify, monitor, measure and assess the firm’s global operational resilience landscape.

OPERATIONAL RISK

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Understand the European regulatory authorities’ approach to operational resilience, regional nuances and requirements, and integrate those expectations into the operational resilience framework
  • Play an integral part in the development, implementation, and maintenance of the firm’s global operational resilience framework to ensure a front-to-back approach to operational readiness and response to business disruption events
  • Support execution of the firm’s Operational Resilience framework for the European legal entities of Goldman Sachs
  • Engage and liaise with regulators on the operational resilience framework and support responses to requests/exams
  • Utilise networks with peer firms to understand industry opinion and implementation of the operational resilience framework
  • Be apprised of operational resilience events and data collection including reporting when necessary; perform detailed reviews of trends to identify significant risks and ensure monitoring and remediation
  • Participate in the firm’s capital and stress-testing scenario analyses relevant to the firm’s business disruption risks with focus on European legal entities of Goldman Sachs
  • Establish and maintain qualitative/quantitative operational resilience metrics for EMEA legal entities
  • Maintain ongoing monitor, triggers, escalation and mitigating actions of the relevant metrics
  • Be well-versed in operational risk methods and practices with the ability to connect and align the firm’s operational risk management processes with the operational resilience framework
  • Review and challenge divisional implementation and execution of the Firm’s Operational Resilience Program with a specific focus on EMEA legal entities
  • Manage strategic planning uplift activities to ensure they are executed on time and with the expected level of quality

  • 8+ years of relevant experience
  • Understanding of key flows and functions of a global Investment Bank
  • Thorough understanding of European resilience regulatory landscape, including Digital Operational Resilience Act requirements
  • Strong client / stakeholder management skills with strong interpersonal and presentation skills, both verbal and written
  • Ability to adapt verbal and written communication to audience depending on seniority and messaging
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with a strong delivery focus
  • Ability to work in a team environment and knowledge share with other colleagues within team, and support team members’ development
  • Possess a Bachelor’s or equivalent degree at minimum
