Area of responsibilities Skill Level – Expert

  • Design and implement DNS architectures for both internal and external DNS relays, ensuring high availability, scalability, and performance.
  • Configure and manage Bind servers running on Linux OS to support DNS resolution for various domains.
  • Optimize DNS performance by implementing caching, load balancing, and other techniques.
  • Develop and maintain DNS policies and procedures to ensure compliance with security standards and best practices.
  • Troubleshoot DNS issues and provide timely resolutions to maintain service availability.
  • Integrate DNS infrastructure with other network and security components within the datacenter.
  • Manage and optimize IP address space allocation using industry-standard IPAM tools.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date DNS records, including forward and reverse lookup zones.
  • Monitor the health, performance, and security of DNS and DHCP services, proactively addressing any issues.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate DDI services with network components for optimal functionality.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex DNS and DHCP incidents, employing advanced diagnostic techniques.
  • Implement DNS security protocols, including DNSSEC and encrypted DNS (DoT/DoH), to safeguard network integrity.
  • Adhere to IP addressing standards and guidelines while ensuring efficient utilization of IP resources.
  • Contribute to capacity planning efforts by assessing DNS and DHCP requirements and proposing scalability solutions.
  • Work with application developers (Hybrid environment – On premise and Cloud) to ensure proper DNS configuration for their applications.
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest DNS technologies and trend
  • Execute backup and recovery strategies for DNS and DHCP configurations to ensure business continuity.
  • Provide rotational on-call support to address critical DDI-related network issues.
  • Assurance of SLAs / KPIs / OLAs and service quality.
  • Promote the organization’s goals and to implement evolving technologies in service.
  • Responsible to build and implement security guidelines.
  • Running the service operations in close cooperation with other IT process owners and service owners.
  • Ensure service quality.
  • Good understanding of ITIL concepts

Core DNS Skills**

  • DNS Protocols: Deep understanding of DNS, DNSSEC, and other related protocols.
  • Bind Server Configuration: Proficiency in configuring and managing Bind servers on Linux platforms.
  • DNS Troubleshooting: Ability to diagnose and resolve DNS issues effectively.
  • DNS Security: Knowledge of DNS security best practices and threat mitigation techniques.
    Network Infrastructure
  • Network Protocols: Understanding of TCP/IP, IPv4/IPv6, and other network protocols.
  • Network Components: Familiarity with routers, switches, firewalls, and load balancers.
  • Network Troubleshooting: Ability to diagnose network connectivity and performance issues.
    Linux Administration
  • Linux Fundamentals: Proficiency in Linux operating systems (e.g., Ubuntu, CentOS).
  • Shell Scripting: Ability to write shell scripts for automation and configuration.
  • System Administration: Knowledge of system management tasks (e.g., user management, process management).
  • Contribute to capacity planning efforts by assessing DNS and DHCP requirements and proposing scalability solutions.
