Description

Why us?We believe that AI has the potential to revolutionize how cancer and other complex diseases are diagnosed and treated. We also believe that AI is a tool, not an identity – without access to high quality data and a scientifically rigorous, transparent approach to model development, AI is just a buzzword. That’s where we come in.
Aignostics is a spin-off from one of Europe’s largest and most prestigious university hospitals (Charité), with employees in Berlin and New York. We have received over $20M in funding from leading investors and are a growing team of over 100 interdisciplinary professionals. We work with academic partners as well as leading global life sciences companies.

As a Senior Frontend Engineer at Aignostics, you will play a key role in the development of a cutting-edge web application for digital pathology, transforming complex biomedical data into actionable insights for cancer research and diagnostics. Your expertise will help shape a platform that seamlessly translates intricate biomedical data into user-friendly interfaces.
You’ll build new features for diverse user types, continuously enhancing performance and usability. You’ll collaborate with cross-functional teams – including product management, pathologists, scientific program managers, design, backend engineering, ML engineering, and DevOps. In addition to driving platform architecture, you’ll uphold high engineering standards, ensuring consistency and quality across the codebase. You’ll contribute to a culture of strong ownership and independent decision-making, while encouraging strong collaboration and teamwork, actively mentoring junior team members to help them grow and succeed. • Collaborate Across Teams: Work closely with internal users, product managers, designers, and other engineers to deliver integrated solutions
• Uphold high engineering standards: Ensure that codebases are consistent, well-tested, secure and maintainable
• Drive Architecture: Make strategic decisions to enhance platform usability, scalability, and alignment with future product needs and systems performance
• Participate in agile methodologies, contributing to sprint planning, reviews, retrospectives and other team rituals to ensure smooth development cycles
• Mentor junior developers and contribute to a collaborative, knowledge-sharing environment

What we are looking for • Deep expertise in React, TypeScript and GraphQL
• Proven experience in building scalable, maintainable and secure web applications
• Deep expertise in Test-Driven Development (e.g., Jest, Cypress, Playwright)
• Solid understanding of CI/CD pipelines and their role in delivering high-quality software
• A commitment to technical excellence, demonstrated through attention to detail, code quality, and adherence to best practices
• Curiosity and eagerness to learn new technologies
• Outstanding communication skills, with a strong team-oriented mindset alongside proficiency in English Ideally, you also have: • Familiarity with DevSecOps and ISO 27001 Information Security standards
• Knowledge of SQL and database management
• Experience with OpenLayers on the frontend is a strong plus
• Knowledgeable in GitLab CI
• An understanding of performance optimization techniques and debugging for complex web applications working on large datasets
