As a Legal Counsel on a 18-month contract, dedicated to safeguarding brand integrity and fostering innovation within a competitive market environment you will have a significant impact on the business compliance and actively participating in business decisions. You will be a member of the DACH legal team with close collaboration to the global colleagues from the legal department. As a commercial generalist with a specific focus on IP and competition law issues, you will proactively be engaging in areas such as IP, food, media law, commercial contracts and corporate matters. Also, you will be responsible for day-to-day legal advice on regional and local levels, including Marketing, Sales, Corporate Affairs and Commercial functions in all aspects of the law. Based in our Hamburg office, with flexibility between home and office work, you´ll report directly to our Legal Director DACH.

A Taste of What You’ll Be Doing

  • Legal Advice – Provide comprehensive legal guidance to business units in the DACH region on a wide range of issues.
  • IP Law – Review legal matters related to IP law, support the approval process for marketing materials and product designs.
  • Antitrust and Competition Law – Review legal matters related to antitrust and competition laws.
  • Contracts – Draft and negotiate contracts concerning intellectual property and commercial agreements.
  • Legislative Assessments – Evaluate the impact of current legislative initiatives on business operations and develop legal templates that align with global strategies and local laws Contribute to the development and documentation of internal processes and knowledge.
  • Disputes and Litigation – Manage and confer with outside counsel on disputes and formal litigation.

  • Experience as a fully qualified lawyer and a commercial generalist background, focused on IP law.
  • Experience in a law firm and/or the legal department of an international company; expertise in FMCG/retail sector is a plus.
  • The ability to work in a team, as well as independent, in a “hands-on” environment.
  • The ability to act decisively having cross-cultural sensitivity.
