Student Assistant Economic & Skills Development*

in Bonn

The overall goal of the Sector Strategy, Knowledge & Learning (SEC) Unit is the continuous quality improvement of the program work in the project countries of Welthungerhilfe. As Student Assistant, you will support our team in administrative tasks to achieve this goal. Within the SEC Unit, you will mainly work in the areas of Economic Development and Skills Development. In close cooperation with other departments, you will gain a comprehensive, cross-departmental insight into the activities of Welthungerhilfe and get to know the different areas of work of an internationally operating NGO.

  • Conceptual and technical support for the planning, organization and execution of meetings, retreats, workshops and multimedia events
  • Support in the organisation and maintenance of virtual communities of practice in the areas of economic development and skills development
  • Revision and maintenance of internal thematic pages (updating of websites, support in the creation of articles)
  • Research, analyses and data evaluation in the areas of economic development/skills development
  • Layout of internal publications and creation of presentations
  • Support with translations (German/English)

  • You are currently enrolled at university/college, ideally in a field relevant to the position (international development cooperation, geography, social and political sciences, economics or comparable).
  • Ideally, you have already gained some (work) experience in the field of development cooperation.
  • You have a strong interest in economic development and/or skills development/adult education.
  • You have very good IT skills, especially in Office applications such as MS Teams and PowerPoint; experience in layout with Publisher is desirable.
  • Good analytical understanding and have first experiences in research, data analysis, and Microsoft excel.
  • You enjoy working in an intercultural environment, are a good communicator and have an open-minded personality.
  • You are characterized by a structured and reliable way of working and the ability to handle tasks in a self-organized manner and to conduct research independently.
  • You have a very good command of German and English (French skills are an asset).

The position is to be filled as soon as possible, with an initial contract duration of one year. There are good prospects for an extension. Employment location will be Bonn, Germany. You will work 20 hours/week, to enable you to continue your qualification within the framework of your current studies. Mobile work within Germany is possible in agreement with your team. 100% mobile work is not possible. The position is remunerated with 14 Euro per hour.
