Job Description

William Blair seeks an Investment Banking Associate to join our Services & Industrials team in Frankfurt.

The role involves executing in-depth analyses to support new business development, transaction execution, and delivery of investment banking products and services to clients and prospects.

  • Performing extensive financial/valuation analyses to value debt and equity for mergers, acquisitions, and capital raising transactions.
  • Building advanced financial models to value potential and actual clients and/or industries, leveraging broad understanding of valuation and finance topics.
  • Leading due diligence, research, analysis, and documentation of potential and live transactions.
  • Actively participating in presentation development and hypothesis testing.
  • Developing and delivering proposals and presentations to clients and prospects.
  • Participating in client meetings and drafting sessions.
  • Researching and expanding expertise of industries and/or sectors.
  • Identifying improvements to processes and proposing solutions.
  • Taking ownership of client relationships and fostering effective dialogue.
  • Demonstrating understanding of macro factors related to client industry and investment banking products.
  • Providing training and mentorship to less experienced staff.
  • Ensuring all activities are in compliance with applicable rules, regulations, policies, and procedures.

  • Bachelor’s Degree required
  • Fluent in German and English language is essential (Spoken and written)
  • Prior investment banking experience required; 1+ years as an Investment Banking Associate strongly preferred
  • Internship or prior work experience in financial services industry preferred
  • Requirement to successfully complete Level 3 exams with FCA within 90 days of commencing employment (for UK and EU only)
  • Detail oriented with strong analytical abilities
  • Excellent mathematical, writing, verbal, and computer skills
  • Ability to adapt to new tasks with little notice
  • Ability to manage expectations of senior bankers while working on multiple projects simultaneously
  • Effective leadership and coaching skills
