As an electrical engineer you work on the design, development, and maintenance of electrical systems and components. This includes everything from power generation and transmission systems to electrical equipment and control systems used in various industries. The electrical engineer ensures that all electrical systems operate efficiently, reliably, and safely
Design and Development:
- Design electrical systems and components using computer-aided design (CAD) software.
- Develop and test prototypes of electrical devices and systems.
- Create detailed plans and specifications for electrical components and systems.
Analysis and Testing:
- Conduct simulations and testing to ensure designs meet safety and efficiency standards.
- Analyze test results and modify designs to meet performance requirements.
- Perform electrical load calculations and develop solutions to electrical problems.
Project Management:
- Manage electrical engineering projects from concept through completion, ensuring they are completed on time and within budget.
- Collaborate with other engineers, technicians, and manufacturing personnel.
- Prepare and present technical reports and documentation.
Maintenance and Troubleshooting:
- Diagnose electrical failures and design improvements.
- Provide technical support for the installation, maintenance, and repair of electrical systems.
- Ensure systems are maintained to meet regulatory requirements and safety standards.
Compliance and Standards:
- Ensure that electrical systems and designs comply with industry standards, safety regulations, and environmental policies.
- Stay updated with technological advancements and industry trends.
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field. Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred (depending on region and job requirements).
- Experience: Minimum 2-3 years of previous experience in electrical engineering or a related field. Industry-specific experience is required (e.g. power generation, manufacturing, telecommunications).
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in Electrical CAD software (preferably) and electrical simulation tools (e.g., MATLAB, ETAP, LabVIEW).
Knowledge of electrical codes and standards (e.g. DIN VDE, EN, NEC, IEC).
Experience with electrical design and analysis tools. - Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English and German. Ability to present technical information clearly to nontechnical stakeholders.
