For the summer semester 2025, our site Diehl Metering GmbH in Nuremberg is looking for a:

Student (m/f/d) for a final thesis on Satellite Communication for Smart Metering

  • You investigate the integration of satellite connectivity for smart meters within LoRaWAN networks.
  • You evaluate the performance of such networks in terms of reliability, performance and battery life.
  • You study key performance parameters such as latency, reliability of connectivity and loss of packets.
  • You address key challenges such as weather resilience, real-time connectivity, etc.
  • You provide insights into advantages as well as limitations of such integrated systems and you compare the results with other IoT satellite connectivity solutions.

  • You study electrical engineering or something comparable and already possess skills in scientific and technical research.
  • You have knowledge concerning LPWAN and satellite communication.
  • Know-how in the fields of signal processing, signal analyzers and the function of generators is an advantage.
  • Your English is fluent, German language skills are a plus.
  • You can work independently but also in a team.
