DAYWALKER Studios is seeking an experienced Asset Lead for Sets and Props to join an upcoming full CG feature film production in Cologne.
This senior role within the Sets and Props Department requires overseeing the creation, organization, and optimization of all environment and prop assets. The Asset Lead will ensure assets meet the highest creative and technical standards within the production’s timeline. This position demands a blend of technical expertise, artistic judgment, strong leadership, and efficient time management to guide the asset team effectively.
- Collaborate closely with the CG Supervisor to define and streamline the asset development pipeline for sets and props, optimizing processes for a full CG feature production.
- Lead and mentor a team of asset artists to achieve a consistently high-quality output, ensuring assets are delivered on time and meet aesthetic and technical requirements.
- Foster an engaging and productive team environment that encourages creativity and maintains efficiency across asset creation processes.
- Provide direction, technical expertise, and guidance to the team, maintaining standards in modeling, texturing, and optimization tailored for animation and shading requirements.
- Work collaboratively with the modelling, rigging, surfacing, and animation teams to address technical issues, ensure compatibility, and optimize assets for efficient integration into the production pipeline.
- Maintain clear communication with CG Supervisors and Producers, providing progress updates and managing feedback loops to keep asset development on track.
- Minimum 3-5 years experience in film production, specifically within sets and props asset development.
- Strong understanding of asset creation and pipeline workflows, with an ability to translate designs and accurately recreate assets from photographic reference and concept art.
- Advanced skills in Maya, with proficiency in modeling (both organic and hard surface) and UV management.
- Experience with Houdini, Solaris and Karma.
- Comprehensive knowledge of the visual effects pipeline, including modeling, animation, texturing, and rendering stages.
- Proven ability to lead a team, providing constructive feedback and supporting artist development.
- Experience in problem-solving for asset-specific issues and optimizing assets for streamlined production.
- Familiarity with scripting is a plus for process automation and pipeline efficiency.
- Ability to multi-task, prioritize, and adapt to shifting deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong teamwork and communication skills, with excellent organizational abilities in file and asset management.
