- Disciplinary and professional leadership of the department and its personnel
- Accountability for underwriting decisions and profit and loss (P&L) performance of HDI’s global marine portfolio, including complex risk segments such as automotive, commodity, and project cargo accounts (“Global Risk”)
- Underwriting of new and existing customers as part of a co-underwriting process together with the worldwide HDI Global SE units
- Further development of the business strategy within the area of responsibility, e.g., underwriting policy and risk appetite
- Contribution to cross-functional projects and initiatives aimed at establishing underwriting excellence in the marine line of business
- Global coordination of professional training and continuing education programs for marine underwriters, with a focus on complex risks
- Academic degree in business administration or law or equivalent professional experience
- Extensive experience in international underwriting of industrial risks in marine insurance
- Experience in a leadership position desirable
- Strong communication skills in conducting talks and negotiations
- Sociability and ability to work in a team, ability to work under pressure even in time-critical situations
- Very good knowledge of the MS Office package (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
- Business fluent in written and spoken German and English; other foreign languages are welcome
- Willingness to travel
