Aurubis will continue its investments in strategic large CapEx projects to further grow its core business. In this context, our new centralized Group Engineering Organization (GEO) serves as a key enabler providing expertise and enhanced execution capabilities to the group for the successful implementation of strategic projects. Operational engineering support is hereby mission-critical to drive feasibility, basic and detailed engineering of strategic projects and thereby lay the foundation of Aurubis future success.
We are looking for you to support our team in Hamburg as a
(Senior) Mechanical Project Engineer (m/f/d)
- As member of Aurubis’ Group Engineering Organization (GEO), you will be deployed to strategic projects, and be responsible for mechanical engineering throughout all project phases, from concept until project completion. You will manage projects ensuring legal compliance adherence to time, costs and quality standards.
- You will be responsible for the equipment layout and design, ensuring alignment with relevant stakeholders.
- Additionally, you will optimize the layout and design to enhance process security and facilitate ease of operations and maintenance.
- You will actively support project procurement, review supplier offers critically, optimize RFx documents and take care of change & claim management.
- You will collaborate with suppliers to identify and implement the best possible solution for the strategic project, ensuring that supplier performance meets project requirements and standards.
- You will monitor all construction work and review project execution critically in preparation for the commissioning phase.
- You will address disruptions in your area of responsibility with the aim of sustainably reducing disruption rates.
- You will ensure compliance with operational instructions and regulations, including those for occupational safety, environmental protection and the Aurubis Operation System (AOS).
- You will assume a dedicated “expert role” in mechanical engineering, providing guidance and expertise for strategic projects.
- You have successfully completed a master’s degree or diploma in mechanical engineering or a comparable field.
- You have at least 5–7 years of practical experience in related engineering/technology professions and work experience as a project engineer or sub-project manager for major CapEx projects exceeding 10 Mio. EUR, ideally in an international engineering environment.
- An understanding of chemical or metallurgical production processes and requirements is advantageous.
- Your English is business fluent, and you have good language skills in German.
- As an excellent communicator, you routinely deliver presentations to relevant stakeholders and external partners.
- You possess proven problem-solving skills and demonstrate a high level of independence (in planning, organization, execution and controlling).
- You have the ability to make operative trade-off decisions to accomplish project objectives under consideration of the Aurubis strategy in the decision-making process.
- Your Willingness to travel and flexibility for (partially) international deployments to a respective project location round off your profile.
