As a rapidly expanding start-up, ScreenSYS is looking for a self-motivated, experienced, passionate and team-oriented IT professional to join our company in the role of IT Infrastructure System Administrator (f/m/
d). You will play a critical role in keeping our company up and running, efficiently managing and maintaining our IT infrastructure, ensuring seamless internal processes and supporting our multidisciplinary team of experts in plant biology, data science, machine learning and laboratory automation. As an IT Infrastructure Systems Administrator, you will work in a team environment and be responsible for proactively developing efficient solutions and ensuring performance reliability without compromising infrastructure and security. Your Key Responsibilities
System Administration (Microsoft, Linux environments)
· Manage and maintain our server infrastructure
· Design, install, configure and optimize our operating systems, servers and software applications for AI workloads, in particular optimising the usage of GPUs
· Manage IT infrastructure for laboratory equipment, including laboratory devices such as microscopes, growth chamber etc.
Backup and Recovery
· Administer the operation and backing-up of local machines and file servers
· Oversee and coordinate the Quantum Archiving and Backup system
Network and Security Management
· Configure, monitor and manage network infrastructure, including hardware, software and security measures, such as switches, routers, firewalls and VPNs.
· Implement and maintain security measures including user education.
Documentation
· Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation of IT infrastructure, configurations and processes
Support
· technical and assistance to end-users and external IT staff
· Ensure seamless integration of user devices into IT infrastructure
Your profile
Requirements
– Degree in computer science, information technology, information systems, or a related field.
– Hands-on experience (2+ years) in IT administration, preferably in a startup or research-oriented environment
– Proficiency in managing and maintaining Linux-based server infrastructure, including file servers, databases, and backup systems
– Strong networking and security skills, including experience with routers, firewalls, VPNs, and user access management
– Hands-on experience in managing user devices and supporting a diverse range of operating systems (Windows, Linux, macOS)
– Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently as well as part of a team
– Excellent communication and proactive working style.
– A strong team player with efficient interpersonal skills and ability to organize your work automously.
– Fluency in both written and spoken German and English.
Advantageous Skills
– Experience with Docker, Git, or other DevOps tools
