Description
MariaDB Database Administrator is responsible for the operability, performance, integrity and security of a Maria DB database platform. Additional role requirements include system development, troubleshooting and planning.
In order to provide some information on the database “Administration” duty, you will find hereafter some examples of typical responsibilities associated to such role.
- Integration of database add-on product suites
- Monitoring performance and managing parameters to provide fast database services
- Provide means supporting the control and monitoring of access permissions and privileges
- Ensuring that storage, archiving, backup and recovery procedures are operating correctly including disaster recovery procedures
- Commissioning and installing new DB solutions
- Validating and testing of new versions of the database management system (RDBMS)
- Writing and maintaining database documentation, including platform specifications and procedures description
- Close integration work with various development teams for supporting and promoting products, features, and release
- Problem investigation, debugging and fixing
- Customization, maintenance and support under operational conditions
- Project representation
- Working closely with IT project managers, Development and Operational support teams
- Communicating regularly with technical, applications and operational staff to ensure database integrity and security
- 2+ years of operational DBA experience under operational conditions
- Experience in working as MariaDB DBA preferably on Linux platform is a plus
- Experience in automation of Database platforms is a plus
Qualification (School, university, equivalent, etc.)
- University degree in Computer Science or equivalent
- Relevant operational experience with commercial RDBMS (i.e. Oracle, MySQL/MariaDB)
- RDBMS, programming certification is a plus
Know How / Skills
- Scripting knowledge (i.e. Shell, Python, Ansible)
- Knowledge of release management process and tools like Git
- Knowledge of HW, OS, and storage infrastructure
- Core technology skills with hands-on exposure on latest or mainstream engine versions and features
- Ability to work independently
